– Grower Seminars
Why? Americans have not grown hemp for 70 years! We are with hemp where we were with corn and soy 50 years ago. Farmers and processors need to learn new methods and techniques to improve production! This year we hosted three in three different counties in Kentucky in collaboration with Kentucky Hemp Industries Association and University of Kentucky. We had an average of 80 attendees at each seminar!
– Monthly Speaker Series
Want to learn about the hemp industry? These speaker series are for everyone! We will host monthly speakers seriesĀ with new topics each month. Not in Kentucky? No worries. We will stream them on YouTube!
– Writing Competition
This one is for middle school, high school and college students! Working with Lexington’s Carnegie Center, we are hosting a writing competition for students to write something creative about hemp! The winners will receive a bond prize and the opportunity for a public reading!
– Local Hemp Foods Cook-Off
We did it last year with great success so we are making it an annual event! We opened a cook-off to restaurants and chefs using hemp foods. The chefs cooked a creative dish and made it available for a community-wide tasting!
This event’s goal is to normalize hemp in the eyes of the public while educating consumers on how to incorporate it into diets! Last year we had seven participating restaurants. This year we want to double it AND add hemp beer brewers to the competition!
– Thermodynamics Research in a Hemp House
Hemp house’s are touted for their high performance energy-efficiency, but data lacks to back up the claim. NoLi CDC is building Kentucky’s first hemp house (and using locally-grown hemp!). It also will be built in Lexington’s historic hemp district!
We want to build on the history by incorporating breakthrough research measuring the thermal mass and moisture in the hemp house. In collaboration with NoLi CDC and Alembic Studios, this project will provide funds to purchase, install and monitor thermodynamics metering in the hemp house, collecting essential data to back up claims of hemp as a green-building material!
– Aquaponics Research
Not aquaculture, not hydroponics, but aquaponics. It’s a farming method that uses a closed-loop system to grow plants and fish in a symbiotic relationship! It’s an up-and-coming agricultural technology that is becoming ever more popular in cannabis cultivation, particularly in drought-susceptible climates.
Since Kentucky State University (KSU) has an extraordinary aquaponics research department and they are participants in Kentucky’s pilot program, we are collaborating with KSU to analyze the phytocannabinoid spectrum of hemp grown in aquaponic’s conditions compared to traditional soils.

Because we need someone to help implement these awesome projects!
